Coast
We’ve a stunning Heritage Coast with great cliffs, the highest in England, and beaches and bays reaching out to the Bristol Channel. The South West Coast Path, Britain’s longest national trail, extends all along the coastline into Devon and beyond.
National Park
Exmoor is named after the River Exe and is thought to be one of the earth’s oldest features, dating back 200 million years. Dunkery Beacon is the highest point on Exmoor at 520 metres. It commands a breath-taking 360-degree panoramic view.
National Trust
We are perfectly located to visit stunning National Trust properties such as Dunster Castle and Arlington Court, which is home to the National Trust’s carriage museum and a fine Victorian kitchen garden. Dunster Castle hosts many events year-round including outdoor theatre.
Steam Railway
West Somerset Railway is the longest heritage steam railway in the country and hosts popular steam galas in spring and autumn. Charity-run, it works hard to keep the magic of steam alive on the line between Bishops Lydeard and Minehead.

Valley of Rocks
The Valley of Rocks lies to the west of Lynton. This dry valley running parallel to the coastline has a spectacular lunar landscape including some of the oldest Devonian rocks in north Devon and is grazed by feral goats.

Lynton and Lynmouth
These charming, unique, twin coastal villages were much loved by the great romantic poets Shelley, Wordsworth and Coleridge. The steep gradient between the two villages can be travelled via a unique water-operated Victorian cliff railway, which opened originally in 1890.
