We recently decided that it was time to do our bit and give back to the great area of Exmoor so we thought it would be a good idea to choose a worthy cause to support.
We heard about the work Calvert Trust Exmoor does helping people with physical, learning, behavioural and sensory disabilities to experience outdoor activities and thought it was fantastic that the charity ensures nobody misses out on these exciting and challenging experiences.
We are currently in the process of putting our heads together to come up with some fundraising opportunities and are looking forward to getting stuck in and helping out such a good cause.
Calvert Trust Exmoor is located at Wistlandpool, on the edge of Exmoor National Park. It welcomes guests of all ages and levels of ability along with their friends and family.
Some of the activities the charity provides includes horse riding, climbing, sailing, abseiling and accessible cycling.
Rob Lott, Head of Communications at Calvert Trust Exmoor, said: “We were delighted when Dunkery Beacon contacted us to say we had been chosen as their charity of the year. Our community links are vital to us, we couldn’t do what we do without the help and support of local people, companies and organisations supporting us through fundraising and volunteering.”
Calvert Trust Exmoor is the South West’s premier holiday destination for people with disabilities and the only five star accredited activity accommodation in the country. The Exmoor centre was opened in 1996 and now welcomes more than 4,000 residential guests and 5,000 day visitors a year.
