The call of the wild is coming from Somerset

If you’ve recently enjoyed the BBC’s Springwatch programme and like to get out and about watching wildlife, then we’d like to lure you to Somerset to get close to some of the county’s flora and fauna favourites, as well as enjoying some hearty, award-winning fare too.

We’re offering a cosy but luxury base for those interested in everything from gentle bird watching from our restaurant patio or hotel garden to full on birding and walking trips on the Quantocks, the South West Coast Path and Exmoor.

There are about 3,000 red deer on Exmoor and they are the largest wild land animals in the UK.

Somerset is one of the few areas where you can see them in their own habitat and get close to these wonderful creatures.

One way to be sure to get a glimpse of a red deer is to join a professional guided walk in the Exmoor National Park or go on a guided safari tour. You can get more details on these here.

The area is abundant with wild flowers too, with Exmoor boasting more than 1,000 different flowering plants and grasses.

There are so many outdoorsy things to do here all year long too, whether you take a trip out to the Quantocks or to the coast and along the South West Coast Path.

But it’s not just about the wildlife, we provide a comfortable, friendly yet luxury place for you to stay and a foodie haven too with seasonal dishes in our award-winning restaurant, made with love and care, using Westcountry-sourced ingredients, some even grown in our kitchen garden.

We treat all our guests warmly and respect their needs, whether they are here for a meal, a bijou party, a weekend adventure or have come for a quiet, romantic getaway for two.
